Preparation

For the proper preparation for a typical morning blood test for a Check-Up, which includes measuring, among other things, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc., it is recommended for the individual being examined:

On the previous day

Not to remain without food but to have eaten up to 10-12 hours before the blood draw, -avoiding the consumption of fats, especially of animal origin (cheese, full-fat yogurt, fatty meats, etc.), and - limiting the quantity to the margins of the normal individual portion.

On the day of the test

To avoid breakfast, with free consumption of water.
Those who wish may have their coffee without sugar.
For smokers, smoking before the blood draw does not affect the results of the tests.
Those being examined who take any medication should take it as usual, reporting it to the laboratory staff.

An exception is individuals taking thyroid medications, which should not be taken before the blood draw, in the case of thyroid analyses..

Thyroid examination

The thyroid gland is a crucial organ in regulating metabolism. The hormones it produces (T3 and T4) are absorbed by all cells in the body and regulate their metabolic rate. Overactivity of the gland, i.e., high production of T3 and T4, is associated with nervousness, poor sleep, hypertension, tachycardia, excessive sweating, tremors in the hands, confusion, unexplained weight loss, etc.

Helicobacter pylori infection test

Helicobacter pylori infection is easily transmitted from person to person through the oral-faecal route, even via breath aerosols. Thus, if one person carries the infection, it is almost certain that the infection is present in both members of a couple or even in all members of a family.

Dyslipidaemia (Cholesterol) - Cardiovascular Risk - Hypertension – Thrombophilia

Lipids and cholesterol are largely responsible for the gradual narrowing of blood vessels, indirectly threatening with obstructive diseases, mainly affecting the heart (with myocardial infarction), the brain (risk of stroke), as well as the lungs (risk of pulmonary embolism).

Haematological Examination

Anaemias can primarily originate from: Chronic diseases, e.g., neoplasias. Blood loss (mainly from the gastrointestinal tract). Poor nutrition – deficiency of hematopoietic elements (e.g., prolonged diets deficient in animal products). Dysplasia – aplasia of the bone marrow – haematological disorders (e.g., inherited hemoglobinopathies, such as thalassemia or "stigma," sickle cell anaemia, hereditary spherocytosis). Prolonged immobility. Renal insufficiency. Autoimmune diseases. Use of medications that suppress the bone marrow.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Assessment

Sexually transmitted diseases are screened preventively, as their transmission usually occurs from individuals who are unaware that they are infected. This happens because the time for the clinical symptoms and discomfort to appear ranges from a few months to several years.

Cycle Disorders Assessment

The instability of a woman's cycle can originate from many causes. Blood tests will detect hormonal disorders, anaemias, and infections that can affect a woman's cycle and her fertility, often to a great extent.

Vaginitis Examination

Vaginitis is a common inflammatory condition affecting the vagina and the broader lower genital tract of women. It can be caused by: Infections from bacteria, fungi, and viruses (which can also be sexually transmitted) Irritations from chemicals in creams, sprays, and contact with specific clothing. Vaginitis is often asymptomatic. However,

Prenatal Assessment

Prenatal Assessment is an essential part of pregnancy preparation, as it provides information about the health of the mother and the baby to be born. Complete blood count: It evaluates haematological parameters such as haematocrit, white blood cells, and platelets for possible anaemias, infections,

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Assessment

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the leading causes of infertility in women, as well as a factor in more general gynaecological issues. It affects 5-10% of women from adolescence and is the most common gynaecological disorder. It typically presents with unexpected hair growth on the chest, abdomen, and face, combined with an irregular or problematic menstrual cycle.

Fertility Check

In cases where desired pregnancy is not achieved, as well as in cases of miscarriages, laboratory testing is necessary. The following should first be ruled out: The possibility of hormonal imbalance in women, which can be done through a Fertility Check-up, especially in cases of unstable or problematic menstrual cycles. The possibility of problems with male sperm. If no issues arise from these tests,

Osteoporosis

Bones are a "living organism" that constantly undergoes reconstruction through osteoclasts (mechanism of bone resorption) and osteoblasts (mechanism of bone synthesis). The two mechanisms are in balance, which can be disturbed for many reasons (menopause, genetic type, hormonal imbalance, poor diet, smoking, lack of exercise, etc.) and can lead to bone loss.

Disorders of hair growth – alopecia

With the basic Check Up, an initial comprehensive assessment of our health is performed (mainly renal and hepatic function), to ensure that there is no systemic disease that may contribute to the poor quality of scalp hair. Iron (Fe) and iron stores with ferritin (Ferr) are checked because in situations of iron deficiency, hair becomes thin, brittle, and falls out.

Arthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is caused by injuries, as well as aging of the body. The rates of men and women affected are the same up to age 50- 55, but after this age, it appears more frequently in women. Alteration of ligament characteristics causes severe pain and reduces their functionality. Rheumatoid

Autoimmune Diseases

In autoimmune diseases, while the body's antibodies are meant to attack external infectious agents, they attack the body itself and its organs, failing to distinguish it from external invaders. These are chronic diseases that can have various expressions and severity. Sometimes, multiple autoimmune diseases appear together, so a comprehensive examination is recommended

Diabetes Check-up - Type II Diabetes Predisposition

Diabetes Check-up - Type II Diabetes Predisposition body. The purpose of further examinations is to determine the successful regulation of diabetes and, at the same time, to thoroughly check the kidneys, as they are particularly sensitive to high blood sugar levels.

Preventive Check-ups: Prevention achieves the preservation of the precious asset of health for you and your family. It is recommended to have an annual check-up of basic tests that reflect the smooth functioning of all systems of the body.

Preventive check-ups are planned together with the Pathologist, according to your personal and family medical history, gender, and age, with the aim of early detection of health problems and their management resulting in the preservation of the precious asset of health.
